The Thales Trusted VPN is a system that enables mobile users to access sensitive and confidential information on their company internal network in a secure manner using cost-effective public Internet access. Trusted VPN is a complete solution consisting of PC cards installed in mobile users' PCs, a special Datacryptor installed at a central location and the necessary software to manage and use the system.

Users insert a PC card in their PC and run a client application which allows them to log on, initiate and terminate communication sessions with the server. Client applications run under Windows 2000 and XP. Data transferred over the public Internet is encrypted according to the IPSec protocol in tunnel mode.

Trusted VPN uses hardware rather than software to encrypt and decrypt data.
